[Script] WME BackEnd Data

WME BackEnd Data
GitHub: https://github.com/TheCre8r/WME-BackEnd-Data (Direct Install)
Adds the ability to view Hidden External Providers, gas prices, and advertisement pins (Ad pins).
Description:
WME BED is a userscript designed to reveal some hidden features associated with Places in the Waze Map Editor (WME).
Such features are:

  • Hidden External Providers
  • Advertisement Pins (Ad Pins)
  • Gas Prices
    Additional features are planned.
    Hidden External Providers

Waze links with 3rd-party sources to access and share additional information within the Waze app. Some have custom icons, others do not. Please feel free to report an issue for any new external provider which needs a custom icon. (Be sure to include a permalink (PL) of the venue requiring an icon.)

Advertisement Pins

Advertisement Pins are shown in the Waze app but are not editable by users. (More information about advertisements in the Waze app is available here.) There are two ways to view ad pins in WME: Select a place in WME or Press the “Search for Ads By Name” button in the WME BED settings tab. In both cases, if an ad pin exists it will pop up.
The ad pins appear in one of four colors.

  • White is the most common and denotes that the ad pin is correctly connected to the Waze venue. It will appear at the venue’s entry/exit point. This is the best case situation.
  • Red is the next most common.
Red means there is a high error probability. The ad pin should be reviewed. It is not linked to a Waze venue and may be or may not be in the correct location.
  • Grey is uncommon. A grey ad pin signifies that the ad is linked to a Waze venue but not the location you selected. This can appear when there are two different places adjacent to each other with the same name (i.e. two Mobil gas stations on opposite corners). To verify that the ad is linked to the other location, click on the other venue and the ad pin will turn white.
  • Blue is uncommon. This ad pin is linked to a Google search result. These will usually occur when an ad pin has been created outside of your current WME view.
    Gas Prices

To view gas prices, click on the venue and press the “Gas Price” Tab (denoted by a gas pump icon). Gas prices will only be shown on Gas Stations. If the gas prices have never been updated or marked unavailable in the app, the display will show “N/A”.

Such great information that has been hiding in the back end. Nice to see it.

I don’t have a GitHub account, so I’ll try posting here.
Great script, very useful, but once you search for an ad pin, can there be a “clear” button to remove the bubbles that appear? No big deal to refresh, but a button would be easier.

This is huge!

I will post the request for you Russ

If you haven’t figured it out yet, there is an ad pin layer option allowing you to hide the ad pins that are showing.

Looking into adding the feature.

Okay, this is awesome! I’d love the ability to be able to see all ad pins on a layer together rather than just the one I happen to be searching for. Also, I already see this helpful for reporting misplaced ad pins. The notes under the red icon say that they should be reviewed. We still don’t have the ability to correct the pins ourselves, but I wonder if there’s a way to integrate that form into this or at least easily link to it. In that same line of thinking, it’d also be great if, now that we can see the ads, we could also select it to at least get the right coordinates off it for the report form. Yes, my wish list is long. Maybe I’ll ask Santa for it next Christmas.

I’ve made sure the “Ad pins” layer was on and even toggled it ON/OFF a few times, reloaded WME, closed WME and re-opened it. But I can’t seem to see any ad pins in ROW. Am I missing something obvious?

Well done !

Gas prices are not getting imported on the IL server , can you please take a look ?

Thx,
Shmupi

Thanks, this is already on the wish list.

Currently you have to select a place first, if it has an ad associated with it then you should see the pin.
If you see an ad in your app, find and select the place in the editor to see the ad pin. Please provide a PL if you still don’t see it.

The ability to search an area for all ad pins without selecting is still in development.

Thanks, I will pass this on to Ian.

EDIT:
Can you provide a PL for a GS that does not show the prices so he can look into it?
Are you seeing the Gas Pump tab?
If so, can you provide a screen shot of the gas pump tab and the information you are seeing?

I’m not seeing it for any places even if selected.

For the supermarket I can see “Navads” under External providers (read only), but no pin is showing.

Thanks,
FYI, the things listed under the External Providers (read only) section are just showing 3rd-Party sources that may have background link to the place. It has nothing to do with if there would be a ad pin associated.

I will let Ian look into these but my quick glance does not show the any of these having an ad attached to it in the backend data.
The McDonald’s is labeled as McDonald’s Rive not McDonald’s and I don’t see an ad attached to it either. I am not sure if it would show if it was changed to McDonald’s or not.

EDIT: Does that first restaurant listed have an ad in the app at that location? If so, can you provide a screenshot of it as well?

I’ll be able to post screenshots in about 30-45min only. But I know it does because I run ads on it  (Family business)

Thanks, hopefully this will help. I am sure that Ian will reach out to you in Discord if needed.
